CHESTER – The Mississippi River was still above flood stage Sunday, but the forecast calls for the river to fall below flood stage Wednesday. CHESTER – The Mississippi River is rising slowly on the Chester gage. It was at 29.92 yesterday. It was expected to rise to 30.5 feet today, 31.8 tomorrow, 32.3 Sunday, down to 32.1 Monday and down to 30.4 Sunday. The high water has idled the Ste. Genevieve-Modoc Ferry which has suspended service.
