Illinois bobcat season concludes with 627 harvested

SPRINGFIELD – The 2025-2026 Illinois bobcat season concluded Feb. 15 with 627 bobcats harvested by hunters and trappers. A total of 405 (62%) bobcats were taken by hunting, while trapping accounted for 222 (34%) of the harvest. Twenty-seven (4%) were salvaged by permit holders from circumstances such as roadkill. Small businesses report higher sales and less uncertainty in latest NFIB survey

SPRINGFIELD, IL – The NFIB Small Business Optimism Index fell 0.5 points in February to 98.8 but remained slightly above the 52-year average of 98. The Uncertainty Index decreased three points from January to 88.   “Although optimism declined slightly, small businesses report feeling more certain in February as they look toward the coming months,” said NFIB Chief Economist Bill Dunkelberg.
