IDOL reaches agreement with Allied Universal Security Services to resolve wage claims and strengthen compliance

SPRINGFIELD – The Illinois Department of Labor (IDOL) has entered into an Assurance of Voluntary Compliance with Allied Universal Security Services to resolve wage claims and prevent future violations of the Illinois Wage Payment and Collection Act.

Following the receipt of multiple wage complaints, IDOL initiated an investigation into Allied Universal’s wage payment practices. The agreement resolves those claims without litigation and establishes enforceable measures to ensure workers are paid properly going forward.

Throughout the investigation, Allied Universal cooperated with the Department by responding to information requests, producing payroll and related records, and engaging in good-faith discussions to address the issues identified and improve compliance with state law.

Under the agreement, IDOL and Allied Universal resolved 25 claims totaling approximately $20,000. Allied Universal will pay a $37,000 penalty to the Wage Theft Enforcement Fund and will comply with enhanced monitoring and reporting requirements for a two-year period. The company has also agreed to maintain and promote an internal employee hotline for wage-related concerns, ensure required workplace notices are properly posted, and submit periodic reports to IDOL regarding wage and hour complaints.

“Ensuring that workers are paid what they are owed is a core responsibility of this Department,” said Illinois Department of Labor Director Jane R. Flanagan. “This agreement holds the employer accountable, provides relief to affected workers, and puts safeguards in place to prevent future violations.”

The Assurance of Voluntary Compliance is not an admission of wrongdoing and does not constitute a finding that Allied Universal violated Illinois law. However, failure to comply with the terms of the agreement may result in enforcement action by the Department.

Workers who believe they are not being paid their earned wages can file a complaint with IDOL.
