STE. GENEVIEVE — The purchase price and cost of construction for the two new restrooms proposed for the Ste Genevieve City parks may force the city to purchase only one — instead of the two which had been previously planned.
Word of the price increase will be presented to the city’s parks and recreation board tonight at its regular meeting.
City Administrator Happy Welch discussed the price increase and the needed adjustments in a memo to the board.
“The cost for construction and delivery has increased for the two restroom units and puts us over the $160,000 allocated in our budget,” he wrote. ” The cost for the restroom with the exterior drinking fountain is now $82,418 and does not include the concrete, plumbing or electrical that will be needed which will cost an additional $20,000. We will only be able to afford one building and I would recommend putting that up by the big pavilion. The time to deliver has also been extended from three months to six months.”
“You might consider reallocating the remaining $57,583 in ARPA funds for the playground equipment that will need board of alderperson approval. It must be allocated by the end of 2024 and expended before the end of 2026. If you decided to go in a different direction the same time limits apply,” Welch continued.
The Park Board will meet at 6:30 this evening in the temporary city hall at 44 Plaza Drive in the Plaza Ste. Genevieve Shopping Center.
The meeting is open to the public.
