STE. GENEVIEVE — There was a lot of splashing and fun at the River Rapids Water Park in Ste. Genevieve — but it wasn’t all for fun — and it wasn’t the usual kids having a blast in the water.

Officers with the St Louis County Police Department took advantage of the end of the pool season to give their K-9s water training, a video released by the department on September 6 shows.

The officers took the K-9s to the River Rapids Waterpark in Ste Genevieve to practice water rescues and apprehension techniques, the police department said.

Chief Deputy Jason Schott said in addition to St. Louis County, K-9s from other agencies, including the Ste. Genevieve County Sheriff’s Office took part in the water training.
