A funeral will be held Friday, August 25, 2023 for 85-year-old Laura Mae Coop of Walsh, Illinois, who passed away Friday, August 18, 2023 at Randolph County Care Center, Sparta, Illinois.
She was born April 14, 1938, in Walsh, Ill. a daughter of Boniface and Grace (nee Ragsdale) Link.
Laura married Edward C. Coop on November 22, 1956 at St. Pius V Catholic Church, Walsh, Illinois; he preceded her in death on July 2, 2019.
She is survived by three sons: Mark (Brenda) Coop of Salem, Ill., Mike (Kelly) Coop of Evansville, Ill. and Melvin (Kelly) Coop of Walsh, Ill.; two sisters in law: Mary Kathleen “Kathy” Coop of Evansville, Ill. and Gloria “Glo” Link of St. Louis, Mo.; seven grandchildren: Laura (Jacob) Burkett, Andrea (Cody) Gowler, Zachary Coop, Trevor (Beth) Coop, Amanda Coop, Kelsie (Chad) Buss and Klayton Coop; eight great granchildren: Mia and Cooper Burkett, Myra and Marshall Gowler, Parker and Imogen Coop and Hudsen and Addelyn Buss; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
She was also preceded in death by several brothers and sisters.
She was a homemaker.
Laura also worked part time at the post office in Walsh.
Laura was a member of St. Pius V Catholic Church, Walsh, Illinois where she played a large role in taking care of the church.
She was also a member of the Altar Sodality and the Catholic Fraternal Life.
Laura enjoyed quilting and baking pies and was known for her cherry pies.
She loved spending time with family and made an amazing Sunday dinner.
Visitation will be 9-11 a.m. Friday at the St. Pius V Catholic Church, Walsh, Illinois.
A funeral mass for 85-year-old Laura Mae Coop of Walsh, Illinois will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, August 25, 2023 at the St. Pius V Catholic Church, Walsh, Illinois. Father Iuvenis Iheme will officiate.
Interment will be in the St. Pius V Catholic Cemetery in Walsh, Illinois.
Memorials may be made to the St. Pius V Catholic Cemetery Fund.
