A funeral will be held Wednesday, August 23, 2023 for 97-year-old Ida Elizabeth Probst of New Athens, Illinois, who passed away at 7:02 pm, Thursday, August 17, 2023 at Freeburg Care Center, Freeburg, Illinois.
She was born October 9, 1925 in Belleville, Ill. daughter of Michael and Margaret (nee Marian) Hammond who both preceded her in death.
Ida married Ray Charles Probst. He preceded her in death on May 18, 2016.
She is survived by a brother: Edward Hammond of Hollywood Heights, Ill.; a sister-in-law: Barbara Hammond of Belleville, Ill.; four nieces: Debbie (Richard) Kehrer of Smithton, Ill., Michelle Taylor of Hollywood Heights, Ill., LouAnne Howard of Collinsville, Ill., and Charlotte (Ivan) Shevchendo Haddam, Conn. and several cousins and friends.
She was also preceded in death by two brothers: Wilfred (Loretta) Hammond and Paul M. Hammond, a nephew: Paul E. Hammond and a niece: Donna Casperson
Ida was a homemaker and a member of St. John’s United Church of Christ in Smithton.
She enjoyed quilting, gardening, square dancing and going on bus tour with her husband.
Visitation will be 9-11 a.m. Wednesday at St. John’s United Church of Christ, Smithton, Illinois.

Private entombment will be in the Valhalla Gardens of Memory in Belleville, Illinois
