A funeral will be held Saturday, April 22, 2023 for 96-year-old Fern M. Schnepel of Ruma, Illinois, who passed away at 5:02 pm, Monday, April 17, 2023 at Red Bud Regional Hospital, Red Bud, Illinois.
She was born June 3, 1926 in Ruma, Ill. to Herman and Elsie (nee Kruse) Stamm who both preceded her in death.
Fern married Norman Schnepel on April 21, 1949 in Ruma, Illinois; he preceded her in death on April 7, 1997.
She is surivived by two children: David (Doris) Schnepel of Sarasota, Fla. and Kathleen (Robert) Wagner of Ledderdale, Iowa; a daughter in law: Patty Schnepel of Red Bud, Ill., five grandchildren: Garon (Doreen) Schnepel, Laurie (Jeremy) Wright, Joel (Libby) Schnepel, Micah (Amanda) Schnepel and Robert David Wagner (Stephanie Hayden),
five great grandchildren: Henry Schnepel, Lydia Wright, Sam Wright, Bailey Schnepel and Tucker Schnepel, many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
She was also preceded in death by a son: Gary Schnepel, three sisters: Verna Schrader, Bernice Ellner and Lorna Becker and a brother: Omar Stamm.
She was a homemaker.
Fern was a member of St. John Lutheran Church, Red Bud, Illinois.
She was an avid quilter and loved gardening. She also enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren.
Visitation will be 9-11 a.m. Saturday at St. John Lutheran Church in Red Bud.
A funeral for 96-year-old Fern M. Schnepel of Ruma, Illinois, will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, April 22, 2023 at St. John Lutheran Church, Red Bud, Illinois. The Revs. Mark Nebel and Brian Nowak will officiate.
Interment will be in the St. John Lutheran Cemetery in Red Bud, Illinois.
Memorials may be made to the St. John Lutheran School in Red Bud, Ill.
