CHS Volleyball wins at Red Bud

Improves to 11-9 overall and 5-4 in Cahokia Conference

CHESTER – The Chester High School Lady Jacket Volleyball Team traveled to Cahokia Conference rival, Red Bud, Thursday October 13 to take on the Lady Musketeers.

Earlier in the season the Jacket hosted Red Bud at CHS Colbert Gym, losing the match, but it took the Musketeers three sets to seal the win. Red Bud won he first set, 25-9, then Chester came back to tie the match wining asset 2, 25-13.  In the tie-breaker the Jackets lost, by four points, 25-21.  With the loss CHS fell to 0-2 in the conference and 2-6 overall.

 

In the late season re-match, the Lady Jackets came to play and defeated the Lady Musketeers in two sets, 25-15 and 25-20 to win the match and improve to 11-9 overall and 5-4 in the conference.

 

In the win, Paige Vasquez led the team in kills with 11 and digs with nine. She also had 1 assist. Mabry Wingerter led the team in assists with 19. She also added 1 ace and 2 digs. Maggie Caby led in aces with 2.  She also recorded 3 kills 1 assist, and 2 digs.

 

Jordan Buskohl recorded 8 kills, 1 assist, and 2 digs. Paige Thomas had 4 digs.  Elaina Lutman contributed 1 ace and 2 digs.  Ellen McCormick added 1 ace and 7 digs. Alexis Eggemeyer had 1 kill, and 1 assist. Emma Eggemeyer contributed 1 ace and 2 digs.

 

The match completed a 4-match winning streak with wins over Steeleville, Okawville, Sparta, and Red Bud.

 

Head Coach Colleen Runge said, “The Lady Jackets Volleyball Team took on the Red Bud Lady Musketeers and had a program sweep.  The freshmen won in two sets and the JV squad won in three sets with scores of 25-12, 26-28, and 15-8.”
