Gladys C. Engert

A funeral will be held Friday, December 31, 2021 for 89-year-old Gladys C. Engert of Altenburg who passed away December 28, 2021 at her home in Altenburg, Mo.

 

She was born August 4, 1932 in Farrar, Mo, daughter of Theodore and Clara (Kassel) Lorenz who both preceded her in death.

 

She and Norman Engert were married on October 22, 1955 at Salem Lutheran Church in Farrar. He preceded her in death on January 1, 1998.

 

Survivors include four daughters and a son: Pat (Bob) Wichern and Donna (Paul) Strattman, both of Perryville, Sandy (Gary) Kassel of Jackson, Vicki (Kevin) Leimbach of Shawneetown and Mike (Kellie) Engert of Altenburg; grandchildren: Ryan (Jennifer) Wichern, Chad Wichern, Brent (Aryn) Kassel, Katie (Jake) Dority, Lauren (Tyler) Rolens, Brock Engert, Korby Engert, Chad (Kim) Strattman, Todd (Nikki) Strattman, Cory (Renee) Strattman and Cari (Justin) Barnes, and 16 great-grandchildren.

 

She was also preceded in death by two brothers: Hubert and Arnold Lorenz and two sisters: Alice Wichern and Lucille Fristche.

 

Gladys retired from the Peoples Bank of Altenburg in 1997.

 

She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Altenburg, past member of the LWML and a docent at the Lutheran Heritage Museum.

 

Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Thursday, December 30, 2021 at Ford & Young East Perry Chapel in Altenburg, and 8:30-10 a.m. Friday December 31, 2021 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Altenburg.

 

A funeral for 89-year-old Gladys C. Engert of Altenburg will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, December 31, 2021 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Altenburg with the Rev. Steven Dressler officiating.

 

Burial will be at Trinity Lutheran Cemetery in Altenburg, Missouri.

 

Memorials are preferred to the Trinity Lutheran Church, Lutheran Heritage Museum, United in Christ Lutheran School or Saxony Lutheran High School.
