Ste. Genevieve County Commission minutes released

STE. GENEVIEVE – The Ste. Genevieve County Comission met June 22nd for its regular meeting.

 

The minutes were released Friday, June 26.

 

MONDAY, JUNE 22, 2026

 

22ND Day of the April Term.

 

Commission Met Pursuant to Adjournment. Present were Presiding Commissioner Randy Ruzicka, Associate Commissioners Cory Ford and Mark Marberry, along with Deputy County Clerk, Michele Gatzemeyer. THE MEETING WAS CALLED TO ORDER BY PRESIDING COMMISSIONER RUZICKA AT 8:15 A.M.

 

THE MINUTES OF PREVIOUS MEETING THAT WAS HELD ON THURSDAY, JUNE 18, 2026 WERE READ. COMMISSIONER FORD MADE A MOTION TO APPROVE SAID MINUTES AS PRESENTED. COMMISSIONER MARBERRY SECONDED THE MOTION. COMMISSIONER FORD YEA. COMMISSIONER MARBERRY YEA. ALL IN FAVOR. MOTION PASSED.

 

Commissioner Ford made a ‘Motion’ to approve the Agenda for today’s meeting. Commissioner Marberry seconded the ‘Motion. Commissioner Ford yea. Commissioner Marberry yea. All in favor. Motion passed.

 

Mr. Scott Schmieder, R&B Foreman, appeared before the Commission to provide report for today’s meeting. Following were the ‘Items of Importance’ provided:

*R&B Department ‘Patching’ Roads; ‘Mowing’ being completed as well.

*Paving of Holmes Road – Done.

*Cindy Lane/Cedar Trail – Paving completed; Commissioner Ford inspected the same; looks ‘Great’. *The ‘Goal’ is that R&B Department to begin ‘Chip Sealing’ this week.

*Work Order submitted by Ste. Genevieve Recycling Center regarding ‘tan truck’ that has non-functioning ‘door handle/driver’s side’. Mechanic for R&B to inspect the same to determine ‘solution’. *’Tar Pot’ working properly; Mr. Schmieder has supply of ‘oil’ ready.

*Commissioner Ford met with Scott Schmieder, R&B Foreman, on Cemetery Road in St. Mary in effort to try to determine ‘solution’ to ‘mobile home’ parked on County Road ‘ROW’. As additional information becomes available, said detail to be provided.

 

Review completed ‘ROW’ for Phase III as it relates to Citizen’s Electric ‘Salem Bulk Project’. Process is still in ‘Engineering Status’. As additional information becomes available, said detail to be provided.

 

Courthouse ‘Steps’ reviewed again. As previously discussed, the ‘areas’ that are in need of repair areas as follows:

*North Entrance Steps

*East Entrance Steps

*South Main Entrance Steps

*Small Steps at the Southwest Corner of the Building

 

It was noted that it would appear that ‘steps’ could be ‘repaired’ much less expensively that ‘tearing’ out ‘steps’ and replacing them.

 

*After careful review and consideration, Commissioner Ford made a ‘Motion’ to approve the ‘Proposal’ (A total of (2) Proposals were received as there are limited contractors that provide for ‘repair/resurfacing’.) from “Focal Point Coatings” as they provided the ‘low bid’ amount of $6,800.

Commissioner Marberry seconded the ‘Motion’. Commissioner Ford yea. Commissioner Marberry yea. All in favor. Motion passed. (Copy of all ‘Applicable’ Paperwork attached to Commission Record Supplement for this Date.)

 

Commissioner Ford provided update as it relates to the Ste. Genevieve ‘YMCA’. Part for ‘Pump’ that has been reviewed/discussed is on ‘order’. There are no additional reports for today. Commissioner Marberry provided ‘report’ from ‘Data Center’ Summit that was held on June 17, 2026.

 

Commissioner Marberry provided detail on guest speakers, local perspectives, understanding data center requirements, resource realities, infrastructure/incentives/impact, and legal infrastructure.

 

*It is important to note that in today’s society, data centers are considered to serve as the backbone of modern digital infrastructure, providing secure, reliable environments for storing, processing, and distributing critical data and applications. They support the digital services we rely on daily, enabling everything from cloud computing to online transactions; thus, making them necessary in the data-driven world we live in today. facilities.

*It was noted that ‘nuclear power’ being reviewed/discussed as ‘energy’ source for said

A ‘Motion’ was made by Commissioner Ford to ‘Enter’ into ‘Emergency Closed Session’ Meeting at 10:15 A.M. – pursuant to RSMo 610.021(1) – as it relates to ‘Litigation’. Commissioner Marberry seconded the ‘Motion’. All in favor. Motion passed. Roll was Taken. Commissioner Ruzicka – Aye. Commissioner Ford – Aye.

 

A ‘Motion’ was made by Commissioner Marberry to ‘Exit’ the ‘Emergency Closed Session’ Meeting at 10:40 A.M. – pursuant to RSMo 610.021(1) – as it relates to ‘Litigation’. Commissioner Ford seconded the ‘Motion’. All in favor. Motion passed. Roll was Taken. Commissioner Ruzicka – Aye. Commissioner Marberry – Aye. Commissioner Ford – Aye.

 

Accounts Payable for Date 6/22/2026 in the amount of $21221.79 were reviewed and approved for payment by the Commission.

 

ADJOURN

 

A Motion was made by Commissioner Ford to adjourn @ 12:00 P.M. Commissioner Marberry seconded the ‘Motion’. Ordered that the Commission adjourn until 6/25/2026.
