Perryville man seriously injured in Route T dump truck crash

JEFFERSON CITY – A 68-year-old Perryville man suffered serious injuries in a dump truck crash on Route T in Perry County Monday morning.

The man was taken to Mercy Hospital St. Louis by a Ste. Genevieve County ambulance.

The patrol says the accident happened about 8:18 a.m. on Route T. near Hawn Farm Road.

According to the patrol’s accident report, the westbound 2007 Sterling dump truck the man was driving traveled off the south side of Route T and the driver over-corrected by steering to the left. The truck returned to the westbound lane, began to skid, crossed the center of the road, and traveled off the north side of Route T. The driver over-corrected a second time, by steering to the right. The truck continued to skid, returned to the eastbound lane, then traveled off the north side of Route T and overturned. The dump truck came to a rest off the north side of Route T, blocking the eastbound lane, on its left side facing north.

The truck was a total loss and was towed by Buckley’s Towing.

The patrol says the driver was buckled up.
