Perry County Commission meets this morning

PERRYVILLE – The Perry County Commission will meet this morning at 9 a.m. in the Perry County Commission Chambers at 321 N. Main Street, Perryville.

 

The meeting is open to the public.

Notice is hereby given that the Perry County Commission will hold a meeting at 9 a.m. Monday, October 6, 2025, at the Perry County Commission Chambers located at 321 N Main Street in Perryville.

 

The meeting room is located on the County Admin. Building’s second floor.

 

The tentative agenda of this meeting includes:

 

  1. Convening of meeting at 9 a.m.

 

  1. Pledge of Allegiance

 

  1. Approval of minutes from previous meeting.

 

  1. Public Comment – Any person, resident, or non-resident, wishing to address the Commission. Public comment is limited to 3 minutes per speaker.

 

  1. The Commission will meet with Road and Bridge Supervisor Bruce Orman to hear report of department.

 

  1. The Commission will meet with Buildings and Grounds Supervisor Bryan Lorenz to hear report of the department.

 

  1. The Commission will meet with Emergency Management Supervisor Pat Naeger to hear report of the department.

 

  1. The Commission will meet with Clerk Jared Kutz to discuss work done on the commission’s behalf.

 

  1. Any other business that may come before the Commission.

 

  1. Adjourn

 

EXECUTIVE SESSION

 

The County Commission may, as a part of a regular or special County Commission meeting, hold a closed session to discuss legal action or litigation, leasing, purchasing, sale of real estate, or personnel matters. Authority is Section 610.021 RSMo, as amended.

PERRY COUNTY COMMISSION MINUTES

 

Monday, September 29, 2025

 

Now on the 29th day of September, the Perry County Commission met with Presiding Commissioner Mike Sauer, 1st Commissioner Jay Wengert District 2 nd District Commissioner Keith A. Hoehn, and County Clerk Jared Kutz present.

 

Prior Minutes

 

Commissioner Wengert motioned to approve the Commission open and executive session minutes dated September 25, 2025. Commissioner Hoehn seconded the motion, and the motion passed by vote: Commissioner Sauer (yes), Commissioner Wengert (yes), Commissioner Hoehn (yes)

 

Road and Bridge Report

 

Now at this time comes Road and Bridge Supervisor Bruce Orman who reports on the activities of the department. Mowing is underway throughout the county. Crews will be moving to 9-hour days. A new hire has started with another starting soon. The commission discussed roads residents have contacted them on that need maintenance. PCR 810 is expected to be addressed in the near future.

 

Buildings and Grounds Report

 

Building and Grounds employee Bryan Lorenz was stationed at Legion Lake for the delivery of a prefabricated restroom that will be set in place this week.

 

Clerk’s Report

 

Now at this time comes Clerk Jared Kutz to discuss work done on the Commission’s behalf. Kutz shared information related to the sale of the former Perry County Sheriff’s Department. The survey has been ordered. October 8 is the date of the City of Perryville planning and zoning meeting. The Commission allowed the purchase of fencing to enclose the communication tower at the PCJJC. The Commission were reminded of the Chamber of Commerce Fall Dinner.

 

Baby Box Ordinance

 

Now at this time, the Commission takes up consideration of modification to Perry County Order 2025-01 known as the Baby Box Ordinance. State legislation effective August 28, 2025, has been modified and allows parents to leave infants of not more than 90 days old. This was previously 45 days old according to Missouri Safe Places for Babies Act. Perry County’s ordinance was modified to align with current Missouri law that infants 90 days and younger can be surrendered without prosecution. After due consideration, after a first, second and final reading, Commissioner Wengert motioned to approve the amendment to Ordinance 2025-01, Commissioner Hoehn seconded the motion, and the motion passes by vote: Commissioner Sauer (yes), Commissioner Wengert (yes), Commissioner Hoehn (yes)
