Department awards $26,000 in funding.
(JEFFERSON CITY, Mo.) – Today, the Missouri Department of Agriculture Animal Care Facilities Act (ACFA) Program announces recipients of spay and neuter grants. Grant funds are awarded to eligible organizations that provide low-cost spaying and/or neutering of dogs and cats for individuals who could not normally afford the services.
Donations from the sale of “I’m Pet Friendly” specialty license plates generate the grant money awarded to Missouri organizations. The goal of the “I’m Pet Friendly” fund is to provide grants to nonprofit organizations or governmental agencies to enable spaying and neutering of dogs and cats. Grants are distributed to selected agencies for their efforts through local and regional spay and neuter initiatives.
The following agencies have been awarded a Missouri Spay & Neuter Grant in 2026:
- Animal Protective Association of Missouri, St. Louis
- Audrain Humane Society, Mexico
- Benefitting Animals through Responsibility and Compassion (BARC), Fenton
- Carol Houses Quick Fix Pet Clinic, Rolla
- Spay & Neuter Collaborative of Kansas City, Kansas City
- Field of Dreams Rescue Inc., Kirksville
- Franklin County Humane Society, Union
- Friends of Ferals, Willow Springs
- Kirksville Protect Our Pets (KV-POP), Kirksville
- Operation Spot, St. Louis
- Ozarks Pet Rescue, Willow Springs
- Operation SNIP EM Inc., Richmond
- Stover Animal Rescue, Stover
- Unchained Melodies Dog Rescue, Columbia
To donate to the grant program and obtain an emblem use authorization for specialty plates, visit the Missouri State Humane Association website. Upon obtaining an emblem use authorization, contact the Missouri Department of Revenue to renew or change your plates.
