The Sainte Genevieve Museum Learning Center presents “How Ste. Genevieve helped win the American Revolution” in its next speaker series presentation on Wednesday, Sept. 9 at 6:30 pm at the Orris Theater in Ste. Genevieve.
In May 1780, Commandant François Vallé sent the Ste. Genevieve militia north to help defend St. Louis against a coordinated British and Native American attack during the Battle of Fort San Carlos.
Through reenactment and expert storytelling by Ronnie Rayfield and company, you’ll get to know some of the 60 men from Ste. Genevieve who took part in one of the westernmost battles of the American Revolutionary War.
This fully outfitted regiment will set up camp on the Orris Stage, offering a glimpse into the lives of the soldiers and the role Ste. Genevieve played in helping defend the frontier—and ultimately secure American independence.
