Charlene (Basler) Fick

Charlene M. (Basler) Fick, 88, Parkville, MO passed away Saturday, June 6, 2026, at NorthCare Hospice.  Charlene was born July 4, 1937, to Leo C. “Pumpkin” and Agnes M. (Eisenbeis) Basler in St. Louis, MO.

Charlene spent the majority of her working career as a wife, mother and grandmother; she was an Administrative Assistant for the Walnut Creek Homes Association, and she worked as a reservation agent at America West Airlines.

Charlene was devoted to both her family and faith.  She was a member of St. Therese Catholic Church; an active volunteer within several of the ministries of the church; St. Vincent de Paul, Women’s Alter and Rosary Society and helping with funeral luncheons.

She was the biggest cheerleader for her daughters at swim meets. Charlene loved playing Bunco, Bingo, tennis, traveling with family and friends and watching the KC Chiefs play at Arrowhead Stadium. She was very creative with making quilts, crocheting, and cross-stitching.

Charlene was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer at the age of 82 and like the warrior she was, she faced it head on, and she was blessed to be a survivor of this disease, as this was caught in the early stages.

She is survived by her four daughters, Mary Smith; Anne Porter (Bill); Suellen Sisney (Steve) and Melissa Ropp (Rich); three grandchildren: Alisha Schmidt; Jordan Ropp and Addison Ropp; two sisters: Lila Grither and Mary Agnes Kammon. She was preceded in death by a daughter Karen Hoover, her husband, Dale K. Fick, both parents; and a brother Leo “Chipper” Basler.

A Visitation will be held from 5:30 – 6:30 p.m., Thursday, June 11, 2026 at St. Therese Catholic Church 7207 N.W. Highway 9 Kansas City, MO. The rosary will be prayed at 6:30 p.m.  The Mass of Christian Burial celebrating Charlene’s life will commence at 7:00 p.m. with Rev.
