CHESTER — The Chester Senior Center will be hosting a Matter of Balance class beginning Tuesday April 9th.
Instructors from Oasis Health of St. Louis will be conducting the class.
The class and all course materials are free.
This is an eight session workshop designed to help improve balance, flexibility and range of motion.
Matter of Balance is an evidence-based program that addresses the fear of falling, which is a risk factor for falls.
Participants increase activity levels through a short exercise component, discuss risk factors and learn strategies to keep them on their feet. Improved flexibility and range of motion with stretches and light movements introduced in the third class.
The goals of the program include taking steps to reduce your fear of falling, discussing fall-reduction strategies, increasing your strength and balance, setting goals and tracking your progress and developing new friendships and communication skills.
The class will be held each Tuesday afternoon from 1:30-3:30 from April 9th to May 28th.
Light refreshments will be provided. Class size is limited.
