Public hearing on water, sewer rate hikes is on the agenda for Thursday’s Ste. Genevieve Board of Aldermen meeting

STE. GENEVIEVE – The Ste. Genevieve Board of Aldermen will meet Thursday in the temporary city hall at 44 Plaza Drive.

This may be the final board of aldermen meeting in the temporary city hall, as the city hall is scheduled to move back to the building at 165 South Fourth Street February 19 and the Feb. 22 meeting will likely be in the newly remodeled city hall with its new meeting room.

The tentative agenda for the Feb. 8 meeting includes a public hearing on a proposed water and sewer rate increase.

The city is proposing a two percent increase in the price of water, going from 6.146 cents for each cubic foot to 6.268 cents for each cubic foot. The minimum monthly charge would also rise, from $7.24 to $7.38.

The sewer rate would also rise two percent and the minimum monthly payment would go from $8.66 to $8.83.

An ordinance establishing the new rates is on the agenda for first round action.
