SEDALIA – Friday, Aug. 19, is Missouri Electric Cooperatives Day at the Missouri State Fair. The first 1,500 visitors to the MEC Building on this day will receive a free LED light bulb.
Activities taking place on Aug. 19 include:
- Honky Tonk Dream will be taking the Budweiser Stageat 2 p.m. and 6 p.m. followed by Dirt Road Addiction at 9 p.m.
- Homegrown Singer Contest Semifinal Round, sponsored by Bimbo Bakeries USA, at 4 p.m. on the Budweiser Stage.
- Draft horse hitcheswill compete in the Mathewson Exhibition Center at 6 p.m.
- Livestock shows include breeding swine, beef and dairy cattle, gypsy horse, dairy goat, and dairy goat milking contest.
- The World-Famous Budweiser Clydesdaleswill be on display and then open the draft horse hitches show before parading the grounds around 6:15 p.m.
- Competitive events include the dahlia show, rabbit cooking contest, and Honeysuckle white turkey recipe contest.
- Military Flag Retreat Ceremony, sponsored by Capital Materials, Starline Brass and Retrieving Freedom, at 5:30 p.m. in front of the Historic Administration Building.
- Bull Riding Competitionat 8 p.m. in the State Fair Arena; tickets available for purchase online or at the State Fair Box Office.
- KC and The Sunshine Band with The Four Tops at 7:30 p.m. in the State Fair Grandstand, presented by CFM Insurance; tickets available online or at the State Fair Box Office.
