As our SV Marching Band prepares to step into new uniforms, we’ve been taking a look back at the story behind the ones they’ve proudly worn for nearly three decades.
Our current marching band uniforms were purchased during the 1997-1998 school year. With a typical marching band uniform lasting about 12-15 years, it’s safe to say our Indians have gotten A LOT of mileage out of these uniforms! Talk about getting your money’s worth!
But the story of these uniforms isn’t just about how long they lasted….it’s about the people who helped make them possible.
The original uniforms were funded through several fundraisers, but some of the largest contributions came from generous individuals and families who believed in our students and our band program. Each $650 donation covered the cost of one complete uniform, and many donors chose to have their names remembered inside the jackets.

And this list doesn’t tell the whole story. There were also anonymous donors, countless people who gave smaller amounts, and more than $1,000 raised through donations at the Spring Concert.
Inside these jackets are more than names.
They represent families, alumni, band members, loved ones, friendships, generosity and faith in our students. They are a reminder that the SV community has always come together to support the experiences and opportunities we provide our students.
As we say goodbye to these uniforms and welcome a new generation, we’re incredibly grateful for the people who helped make the last chapter possible. Check out the inside patches in the comments!
