Lt. Governor David Wasinger and Missouri Veterans Commission to Host Estate Planning Services for Veterans in Jefferson City

JEFFERSON CITY, MO – Lieutenant Governor David Wasinger, in partnership with the Missouri Veterans Commission (MVC), will host a free estate planning services clinic for Missouri veterans and their spouses on Friday, September 25, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. in Jefferson City.

Estate planning is one of the most important steps veterans can take to protect their loved ones. Without a will, power of attorney, or beneficiary deed, families may face legal complications, unnecessary expenses, and emotional stress during an already difficult time. Proper planning ensures that a veteran’s wishes are clear, property is transferred efficiently, and trusted individuals can make decisions if needed.

This event will be available by appointment only and will assist veterans and their spouses in preparing essential legal documents that ensure their wishes are honored. Services will include assistance in drafting:

  • Wills
  • Powers of Attorney
  • Advanced Directives
  • Beneficiary Deeds

Trusts will not be available at this event.

“Planning for the future is one of the greatest gifts we can give our loved ones,” said Lt. Governor Wasinger. “Our veterans have given so much to this country and making sure their affairs are in order brings peace of mind to them and their families. Estate planning is not just paperwork—it is an act of love and responsibility, and we want to ensure our veterans have access to these legal resources.”

MVC Executive Director Paul Kirchhoff added, “Too often, we see families struggling with uncertainty when a veteran passes without clear instructions or legal documents in place. These clinics remove that stress, giving veterans confidence that their wishes will be honored, and their families will be protected.”

Veterans must RSVP by Tuesday, September 23, 2026, to secure an appointment. The location will be provided upon registration.
