James M. Yamnitz, 77, of High Ridge, Missouri passed away Tuesday, June 2, 2026 at Mercy Hospital Perry County.
He was born August 26, 1948 in Cape Girardeau, MO to Vernard Ernst and Grace Jo (Long) Yamnitz.
James served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. He was very proud of his military service.
He retired from Chrysler Automotive after 39 years where he worked as a Millwright.
James was a member of both the American Legion and VFW. He was an avid Oliver Tractor collector and enjoyed attending farm auctions and farm shows.
He was of the Christian Faith.
Survivors include three sons, James Michael Yamnitz, Jason (Ashley Floyd) Matthew Yamnitz, Christipher Marc Yamnitz; significant other, Francis Elana Lashley; four brothers, Everett Yamnitz, Keith Yamnitz, Barry Yamnitz, Bryan Yamnitz; two sisters, Celeste Kiefer, Olive Delight Yamnitz; three grandchildren, Steven W. Yamnitz, Julia M. Yamnitz, Daisy J. Yamnitz Green; two great-grandchildren, Adeline & Lilly.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Bruce Yamnitz; grandson, Alexander Graham Yamnitz.
Visitation will be from 3:00 pm to 7:00 pm on Sunday, June 7, 2026 at Ford & Young Funeral Home in Perryville.
A committal service will take place at a later date at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery with full military honors.
