CHESTER – The Chester Beautification & Tourism Commission is sponsoring a Build the Bridge contest coordinating with the Don Welge Memorial Bridge dedication ceremony on July 11.
The bridge building contest is open to ages 5 to 15. Bridges can be constructed using any materials. There are several prize categories. Contest entries are to be submitted by July 6. Awards will be announced on July 11.
In helping to promote this contest, the Mississippi Vally Art Guild is hosting a Build the Bridge workshop on Saturday, June 6. Anyone interested in building a bridge can drop in between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. to construct their bridge.
The guild has been gathering recycled supplies.
Participants are welcome to bring their own bridge building supplies.
This is an historic event for the city of Chester, and you can be part of the excitement.
