Aldermen will consider Ozark Run Scenic Byway proposal

STE. GENEVIEVE — The Ste. Genevieve Board of Aldermen will hear about a proposal to create a scenic byway that would bring tourists to the city from the west and the south when it meets Wednesday for a work session, following the regular meeting. The meetings were moved up one day to allow city officials to participate in a Ste. Genevieve County Town Hall meeting Thursday.

Called the Ozark Run Scenic Byway the route would also include Perry, St. Francois, Bollinger and other southeast Missouri counties. (The complete proposal is posted below.)

Ste. Genevieve City Administrator Happy Welch noted the city has previously submitted a letter of support for the road route: which includes Highway 32 Route O and Highway 61. The Missouri Department of Transportation says it is worth pursuing.

Now the city is being asked to submit a letter of intent by August 31.
