Businesses encouraged to ‘get their green on’ during May for Mental Health Awareness Month

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. – As Mental Health Awareness Month approaches, the Community Counseling Center Foundation (CCCF) is proud to announce its initiative encouraging businesses to shed light on mental health awareness by going green – quite literally. Throughout the month of May, businesses are encouraged to swap out their traditional light bulbs for green ones, symbolizing their commitment to supporting mental health initiatives in the community.

The green light bulb campaign serves as a visible reminder of the importance of mental health awareness and the role businesses can play in promoting well-being among employees and the wider community. By illuminating their storefronts, offices, and establishments with green light, businesses not only raise awareness but also demonstrate their dedication to creating supportive environments for mental health conversations.

Businesses are also invited to become sponsors of the CCCF’s Get Your Green On campaign which will provide an outdoor feather banner and yard sign, as well as green mental health awareness t-shirts for staff.  CCCF is also encouraging businesses, schools, and other organizations to wear green on Fridays and share posts of their businesses and staff using the tag #CCCgetyourgreenon furthering their impact on mental health support in the community. All businesses who share their participation using the tag will be eligible to win a frozen treat mobile party for their business.

“Businesses play a crucial role in shaping the environments where we live and work, and their support for mental health initiatives can make a profound difference,” says Michelle Ramsey, Executive Director of the Community Counseling Center Foundation. “By joining our green light bulb campaign and becoming sponsors, businesses not only demonstrate their commitment to mental health but also actively contribute to building healthier, more supportive communities.”

To learn more about how to participate in the campaign or become a sponsor, businesses are encouraged to contact the Community Counseling Center Foundation at cccfoundationmo@gmail.com.

Together, let’s illuminate hope, break the stigma surrounding mental health, and build communities where everyone feels supported and empowered to seek help when needed.
