PERRYVILLE – On Saturday, the Perryville Pirates Baseball Team enjoyed an experience they will never forget: Playing on the Big League field at Busch Stadium. The Pirates won the game against ROWVA-Williamsfield, 9-4.

It was a long day for the Pirates, who began with a team breakfast before boarding buses for St. Louis. They arrived at Busch Stadium around 11:15 am and then watched the Cardinals-Milwaukee Brewers game, which the Brewers won 12-5.

The Pirates took the field at 5:15 pm before a crowd of more than 700 hometown fans.

“Everyone had an absolute blast,” said PHS Coach Don O’Keefe. “This is one of those days that no one will ever be able to take away from these kids. Our community would have been proud of how the kids handled themselves on and off of the field. It is a positive memory of our school district and this baseball program that they will always have.”

Coach O’Keefe is grateful to the community for supporting the Pirates.

“I want to thank everyone who has supported us since the game was first announced,” he said. “We had people from the community, students and staff, and a lot of PHS baseball alumni who came out to support us. We have been receiving positive comments from people that were at the game and from people that were not able to make it, but kept tabs on us throughout the day. We’re thankful for the memories.”
