A funeral will be held Monday, April 1, 2024 for 89-year-old Maedell A. Renner of Evansville, Illinois, who peacefully passed away at 1:15 pm, Tuesday, March 26, 2024 at Oak Hill, Waterloo, Illinois surrounded by family and caregivers.
She was born November 5, 1934 in Evansville to Festus and Elizabeth “Lizzie” (nee Labruyere) Becker. They preceded her in death.
Maedell was united in marriage to Raymond “Buster” Dale Renner on December 27, 1956 at St. Boniface Catholic Church, Evansville, Illinois; he survives in Evansville. Together, they built a legacy through their (more than fifty years) ownership of Venetian Terrazzo Company.
Maedell was a faithful member of St. Boniface Catholic Church in Evansville, Illinois. She also looked forward to her participation in the Red Hat Society Chapter Gadabouts and the American Legion Auxiliary in Evansville.
She found immense joy in connecting with people and exploring new destinations. She loved to dance and would occasionally sing a little Patsy Cline. Travel was always an adventure, and many called her a human navigation system as she commanded great knowledge of maps and routes to virtually everywhere.
She was the epitome of a matriarch, radiating warmth, wisdom, and kindness to all who knew her. Maedell’s culinary talents were renowned, and her kitchen was the hub of love and laughter and a normal meeting point for holiday gatherings.
Maedell had immense joy in watching her daughters and grandchildren play volleyball and softball over the years.
Her spirit will continue to inspire and guide her family and friends. She leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and cherished memories. Maedell will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
She is also survived by three children: Randall “Randy” Renner of Munfordville, Kent., Melinda (Scott) Ruff of Hannibal, Mo. and Rosalynn “Roz” McClure of Evansville, Ill.; three siblings: Erwin “Red” Becker of Evansville, Ill., Charlotte Hendrickson of Evansville, Ill. and Mary McMillan of Evansville, Ill.; five grandchildren: Megan (Steve) Boggio, Ryan Renner, Libbi McClure (Robby Hernandez), Josey McClure, and Grayden McClure; four great grandchildren: Hunter and Landon Pullen, Jace Boggio, and Della Hernandez; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
She was also preceded in death by a daughter: Mona Kay Renner, three brothers: Paul (Mary) Becker, Boniface (Lorna and Rosalie) Becker, and John Becker and a brother-in-law: Jack Hendrickson.
Visitation will be 10 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Monday, April 1,2024 at the St. Boniface Catholic Church, Evansville, Ill.
A funeral mass for 89-year-old Maedell A. Renner of Evansville, Illinois, will be held at 1:30 p.m., Monday, April 1, 2024 at St. Boniface Catholic Church, Evansville, Illinois. Fr. Iuvenius Iheme and Fr. Steven Pautler will officiate.
Interment will be in the St. Boniface Catholic Cemetery in Evansville, Illinois.
Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, St. Boniface Catholic Cemetery Fund and American Legion Scholarship Fund.
