Ste. Genevieve Board of Aldermen meeting

STE. GENEVIEVE – The Ste. Genevieve Board of Aldermen met in regular session Thursday evening.

The president of the Ste. Genevieve Municipal Band, Jimmie Donze, presented the band’s annual report to the board.

 

Reports were heard from the city administrator, tourism director, community development administrator and fire chief.

 

It was announced that a major hurdle has been cleared for the ferry landing improvement that the Rotary Club is spearheading. The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers has determined that the work proposed (concrete flatwork improvement, marked parking spaces and retaining wall) does not required Corps review and permitting.

 

It was also announced that a city hall open house will be held March 28th before the next board meeting from 4-5:30 p.m. for folks who want to stop in and see the board room and offices.

 

The board conducted a public hearing on a request from Bethany Noble for permission to open a guest lodging facility at 105 N. Second Street in a residential district.

 

The aldermen approved a rather lengthy consent agenda which included the following items:

 

Resolution 2024-20 for a property management agreement with Mark E. Trautwein to maintain flood buyout property.

 

Resolution 2024-21 approving the purchase of six handheld radios and three mobile repeaters for the fire department through Wireless USA for no more than $72,187.28.

 

A street closure request for Merchant from the west side of of Fourth Street to Memorial Cemetery, Fifth Street from Market to the north side of the Memorial Cemetery gate for an event Sunday, May 26th from 12:30-2 p.m.

 

A street closure request for Third Street between Market and Merchant Streets and Merchant between Third and Fourth Streets for “Eclipse Jamfest” Sunday, April 7 from 6 a.m. to 11 p.m.

 

 

A street closure request for Market Street between Second and and Main Streets from 10:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Monday, April 8, 2024 for eclipse viewing.

 

Old Business

 

Bill No. 4606 amending section 200.015 Chief of Police appointment, term, salary, removal was given first round approval.

 

Bill No. 4607 amending municipal code Chapter 715 user charge to reflect a water rate increase was given final approval on a 5-0 vote, with three members of the board (Cleghorn, Fahey and Eydman) absent.

 

Bill No. 4608 amending municipal code Chapter 715 user charge to reflect a sewer rate increase was given final approval on a 5-0-3.

 

New business

 

The low bid of $63,063.80 from Kluesner Construction for the Pere Marquette Park trail rehabilitation project was approved.

 

The low bid of $29,680 for the 58 South Main Street repointing and masonry repair project from Staat Tuckpointing was rejected.

 

Bill No. 4609 – A $132,295 agreement with Jokerst Paving for the North Fourth Street drainage/paving improvements project was given first round approval.

 

Bill No. 4610 – An agreement with the Ste. Genevieve Municipal Band was given first round approval.
