STE. GENEVIEVE – New bassinets were on the wish list of SGCMH Women’s Health & Childbirth Center and now, the hospital’s auxiliary has granted their wish!
“It was a welcomed surprise and we are excited to set aside the old and bring in the new,” said Bernadette Hill, MSN, RN, Women’s Health Services Director. “There are many smaller hospitals that can’t support an OB unit, so we really appreciate everything and everyone that keeps our department going,” she said.
The auxiliary has supported the women’s health services from day one and you can hear Hill’s continued appreciation as she describes the features of the two bassinets with enthusiasm.
“These new bassinets by Stryker are just stellar,” Hill said. “They raise and lower and can move up to eye level, so our moms can easily see the baby when resting in bed. They are extremely quiet to operate, are easy to clean and have drawers on both sides for supplies so that the nursing staff doesn’t have to leave the room to provide care.”
When asked, the SGCMH Auxiliary tries their best to accommodate.
“Babies are near and dear to our hearts,” said Naomi Glassey, auxiliary president. “Over the years we have made it a point to contribute as much as we can.”
From car seats and fetal monitors to OB unit renovations and Christmas stockings for new arrivals, the auxiliary has always stepped up to show their support. A special point of joy are the homemade baby quilts available in the gift shop made by local volunteers.
