STE. GENEVIEVE – Ste. Genevieve High School holds a “Club Day” once a month, where clubs and organizations host meetings throughout the day for student members and their faculty sponsors. This year, the French Club has focused on hands-on learning activities, where students learn more about French culture in Francophone countries around the world.
At one meeting, students learned how to write in French cursive by watching a Youtube video. Each student received a new pen and some French notebook paper to practice in a collaborative group setting!
The meeting ended with a French snack. At another meeting, French Club members learned about the history of the bûche de Noël (Yule Log cake) and were able to decorate tiny versions as well as taste vanilla and mocha cakes from La Bonne Bouchée, a French bakery in Crève Cœur.
“The students have enjoyed learning through these hands-on activities, which support and expand upon their learning in their French courses,” a school official stated.
