STE. GENEVIEVE – The two elementary schools in the Ste. Genevieve County School District R-II -Bloomsdale Elementary and Ste. Genevieve Elementary-participated in Kindness Week Feb. 12 – 15, where schools across the nation take on acts of kindness to celebrate the effect of kind acts.
To make the week special, each day had a different dress-up theme:
- Monday: Wake Up to Kindness: Wear Pajamas
- Tuesday: Fit to be Kind: Wear Kindness Swag
- Wednesday: Show Love: Wear Red or Pink
- Thursday: Work Out Problems with Kindness: Wear Athletic Wear
During this week, several classrooms were inspired and spread their own random acts of kindness throughout the school.
Classrooms also held Valentine’s Day parties and made creative Valentine’s boxes.
Counselors from both schools collaborated so that the POWER leaders from SGES and the Kindness Leaders from BLES could team up for a community service trip to local businesses. To fund the trip, both schools held an online “kindness apparel” fundraiser, where families and staff could support the students and their community service projects.
“The students and counselors from both schools would like to thank all of those who donated to this cause and made their trip possible,” a school official stated.
