A funeral will be held Saturday, Feb. 3, 2024 for 84-year-old John Hadel of Sainte Genevieve, Mo. who passed away Thursday, Jan. 18, 2024 at Mercy Hospital South in St. Louis, Mo.
He was born August 9, 1939 in Kansas City, Mo., a son of Joseph and Mary Elizabeth Hadel, who both preceded him in death.
He married Lucretia Ann (Houston) Hadel. She preceded him in death.
He is survived by three sons: Charlie (Kanina) Hadel of Gainesville, Tex., Sam (special friend Donna Dolan) Hadel of Sainte Genevieve, Mo., and Joe (Shelly) Hadel of Ste. Genevieve, Mo.; grandchildren: Zach, Jackson, Grace, Max, Katriel, Eva, Henry and Aubrey; and great granddaughters: Haley, Mia, Kalia and Eliana.
He was also preceded in death by four brothers and sisters.
He was a member of Church of Ste. Genevieve.
John worked for Boeing on the X-20 DynaSoar Project, and the Saturn V moon rocket (first stage) before working with McDonnel Douglas on the F-4 Phantom II, F-15 Eagle, F-18 Hornet, A-12 Avenger, YF-23 Widow, and F-22 Raptor projects until he retired.
John and his wife owned and operated Lucretia’s Restaurant with his family in Ste. Genevieve for 14 years.
John enjoyed photography, collecting coins, and traveling the world with his beloved wife, Ann.
He worked with the Foundation for Restoration in Ste. Genevieve and enjoyed playing tennis with dear friends and water skiing in his spare time.
A funeral for 84-year-old John Hadel of Sainte Genevieve, Mo. will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 3, 2024 at the Church of Ste. Genevieve. The Rev. Anthony Gerber will officiate.
A private burial was held at Valle Spring Cemetery in Sainte Genevieve, Mo.
