Chad A. Grohmann

A funeral will be held Saturday, January 27, 2024 for 47-year-old Chad A. Grohmann of Waterloo, Illinois, who passed away at 10:20 a.m., Saturday, January 20, 2024 at Red Bud Regional Hospital, Red Bud, Illinois.

 

He was born November 22, 1976 in Red Bud, Ill., a son of Dennis and Kathy (nee Hanebutt) Grohmann who survived in Red Bud.

 

Chad married Taryn DeRousse on September 14, 2019 at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Waterloo, Illinois; she survives in Waterloo.

 

He is also survived by five children: Bayle DeRousse, Lucas, Zach, Brooke, and Oliver Grohmann; two siblings: Brad (Beth) Grohmann of Highland, Ill. and Angie (Bryon) Rahn Red Bud, Ill.; his grandmother: Margaret Hanebutt of Red Bud, Ill.; nieces and nephews: Makenna Grohamnn (Alex Buchmiller), Maggie Grohmann, Addelyn Rahn, and Brody Rahn; his mother in law: Carol DeRousse of Red Bud, Ill.; a brother in law: Damon (Brandi) DeRousse of Red Bud, Ill.; a close family member: Brandon (Lindsay) Eggemeyer of Ruma, Ill.; many uncles, aunts, cousins, and friends.

 

He was also preceded in death by his grandparents: Fred and Betty Grohmann; his grandfather: Roland Hanebutt; and his father-in-law: Welda DeRousse.

 

Chad grew up on the family farm, Cedar Ridge Farms, and enjoyed working on the farm for a portion of his career after high school.

 

He was employed by the City of Red Bud as a Water Systems Operator and took great pride in his work.

 

He was a hunter, enjoyed cooking, and was a talented handyman. There weren’t many things he couldn’t fix. 

 

Chad was a dedicated firefighter for the Red Bud Fire Department for 23 years.

 

The camaraderie and sense of duty meant more to Chad than his fellow firefighters will ever know. To him it was a brotherhood in every sense of the word.

 

He was also a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Red Bud, Illinois. 

 

Nothing meant more to Chad than his family. He was a compassionate father, devoted husband, loving son, loyal brother, and a friend to more people than we can count.

 

Chad’s passing will be profoundly felt by his entire family, countless friends, and many others in the community who loved him. The family deeply appreciates your support during this difficult time and asks that any donations be made to his children.

Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Friday and 9-11 a.m. Saturday at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Red Bud, Illinois.


A funeral for 47-year-old Chad A. Grohmann of Waterloo will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, January 27, 2024 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Red Bud, Illinois. The Rev. Mark Nebel will officiate.

 

Interment will be in the St. John the Baptist Catholic Cemetery in Red Bud, Illinois.
