Helen M. Jokerst

A funeral will be held Monday, January 15, 2024 for 90-year-old Helen M Jokerst of Sainte Genevieve, Mo. who passed away Saturday, January 6, 2024 at her home in Sainte Genevieve, Mo.

She was born December 30, 1933 in Ste Genevieve, Mo. a daughter of William Baechle and Elvina (Hoog) Baechle.

She married Victor Jokerst August 27, 1955. He preceded her in death.

She is survived by four sons: Daniel (Gaylene) Jokerst, Gerald (Gail) Jokerst, Richard (Joyce) Jokerst all of Sainte Genevieve, Mo., and Randy (Carla) Jokerst of Fenton, Mo.; a daughter: Sharon (Daniel) Giesler of Sainte Genevieve, Mo.; two brothers: Clinton (Delores) Baechle of Sainte Genevieve, Mo., and Robert Baechle of Bloomsdale, Mo.; four sisters: Reva (August) Grein of Sainte Genevieve, Mo., Mary Ann (Gerald) Wilson of Sainte Genevieve, Mo., Norma (Jim) Martine of the state of Arkansas; and Linda (friend Bruce Bova) Rector of Sainte Genevieve, Mo.; sisters-in-law: Vera Baechle, Margie Baechle, Earlyn Wehner and Bernice Bauman; brothers-in-law: Jonas Jokerst and Leonard Naeger; 14 grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren.

She was also preceded in death by two brothers: Alvin Baechle, and Raymond “Pete” Baechle; two sisters: Leanna Naeger and Doris (Adrian) Bauman; grandsons: Justin Jokerst and John “Honsey” Fischer; and great-grandchildren: June Jokerst, Trey Fischer and Amos Werner.

Helen was a member of VFW Auxiliary, SGCMH Auxiliary, American Legion Auxiliary, Sodality of Mary and Church of Ste Genevieve.

She was the rock of our family, an avid quilter and unforgettable babysitter known as “Grandma Helen”.

The matriarch that set the most inspirational example of how to live life.

The love and kindness that she spread through her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, and all the children she cared for throughout her career will live on for years to come.

We can only hope there is plenty of dancing, pitch, liver dumplings and homemade noodle soup in Heaven.

Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Sunday, January 14, 2024 at the Basler Funeral Home in Sainte Genevieve, Mo. on Sunday, January 14, 2024 from 4-8 p.m. and Monday, January 15, 2024 from 11 a.m.-12:45 p.m.

The VFW Aux and the Legion Aux will be doing a prayer service for Helen Jokerst at 5 pm on Sunday, January 14, 2024 at Basler Funeral Home.

A funeral for 90-year-old Helen M Jokerst of Sainte Genevieve will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, January 15, 2024 at the Church of Ste. Genevieve.

Burial will follow at Valle Spring Cemetery in Sainte Genevieve, Mo.
