Change of command ceremony planned for Sunday

PERRYVILLE — The public is invited to attend a Change of Command Ceremony on Sunday December 3rd at 10 a.m. at the Perryville Armory, 905 South Kingshighway Street, Perryville, MO 63775.

 

Outgoing Company Commander Captain Tylor Floyd will be replaced by Captain Nathaniel Herndon.

The Infantry Soldiers of Charlie Company will be in attendance while the rest of the company’s soldiers are deployed to the Middle East for Operation Spartan Shield.

 

Battalion Commander Lieutenant Colonel Shaun Edwards will oversee the ceremony will be here along with Command Sergeant Major Eric Jordan along with the echelon above them, Brigade Commander Colonel William Irby from Jackson, Mo. and his Command Sergeant Major Lawrence Welty.

 

The armory has a long history in Perryville dating to when it was built in 1957.

 

It has had many occupants, beginning with Company F, 140th Infantry, federally recognized 9 April 1947 in Perryville.

 

Along the way there have been Engineering and Transportation units here.

 

But now as of 1 July 2022 only our Infantry unit, Charlie Company, 1st Battalion of the 138th Infantry Regiment is located there.
