Bloomsdale woman dies when struck by a vehicle on Highway 61

JEFFERSON CITY — A 74-year-old Bloomsdale woman was killed Wednesday evening when she was struck by a 2006 Dodge Caravan as she attempted to cross Highway 61 in Ste. Genevieve County.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol reports Barbara J. Fisher was crossing from west to east, when she failed to yield to the vehicle. She was pronounced dead at the scene by Ste. Genevieve County Coroner Eric Basler.

The patrol says the driver of the Dodge, 49-year-old Gregana Choko L. Gouneva, was not injured.

The Dodge had extensive damage and was towed by Ste. Genevieve Towing.

The crash happened about 5:30 p.m. north of Missouri Avenue.
