A graveside service will be held Saturday, August 26, 2023 for 86-year-old Herschel “Roy” L. Holt of Sainte Genevieve, Mo. who passed away died Wednesday, August 23, 2023 at Parkwood Meadows in Sainte Genevieve, Mo.
He was born September 19, 1936 in Fayetteville, Arkansas, the son of Freida Holt and John Holt who both preceded him in death.
Married to Darlene (Chapman) Holt on August 1, 1958. She preceded him in death.
He is survived by a daughter: Sandra “Sandy” Wolk of Sainte Genevieve, Mo.; two granddaughters: Amanda Nicole (Steven) Bley of Bloomsdale, Mo. and Stephanie (Shannon) Sulser of Bloomsdale, Mo.; a grandson: Keith (Amanda) Wolk of Sainte Genevieve, Mo.; a brother: Delmar Lee (Jackie) Holt of Harrison, Ark.; a sister: Betty (William) Stewart of Fayetteville, Ark.; great-grandchildren: Hannah and Gabe Bley, Jacob and Liz Sulser, and Evan Wolk.
He was also preceded in death by a sister: Joyce (Paul) Herzog; brother: Gene Holt; and a son-in-law: Leo Wolk.
Roy lived a wonderful life filled with fishing, hunting, playing cards, working puzzles, showing off his card tricks, telling jokes, strawberry milkshakes and he could fix just about anything.
He was a loving husband, dad, grandfather, great-grandfather, friend, and neighbor.
Pa enjoyed his grand and great-grand babies most of all.
Roy never met a stranger and anyone who knew him was truly blessed.
He will forever be remembered by his funny phrases and jokes such as, “What did the fish say when he hit the wall? ….. Dam.”
Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Friday, August 25, 2023 at the Basler Funeral Home in Sainte Genevieve.
There will be a graveside service for 86-year-old Herschel “Roy” L. Holt of Sainte Genevieve, Mo. at Danby Cemetery at 9 a.m. Saturday, August 26, 2023. Danby Cemetery is located at 1020 Danby Road in Festus, MO.
