Rita M. Brumfield

A funeral will be held Tuesday, June 13, 2023 for 77-year-old Rita M Brumfield of Sainte Genevieve, Mo., who passed away Sunday, June 4, 2023 at her home in Sainte Genevieve, Mo.

 

She was born May 29, 1946 in St Louis, Mo. the daughter of Richard Meyer Willa Meyer who both preceded her in death.

 

She married Jim Brumfield May 20, 1967. He survives in Ste. Genevieve.

 

She is also survived by two daughters: Terri (Manny) Thomas of Saint Mary, Mo., and Jami (Scott) Drury of Sainte Genevieve, Mo.; a son: Andrew Brumfield of Clever, Mo.; three sisters: Ruthie (Thomas) Schweiss of Sainte Genevieve, Mo., Margie (Joe) Shirey of Sainte Genevieve, Mo, and Marilyn (Tom) Mahler of Denver, Colo.; a brother: Clarence (Victoria) Meyer of Sainte Genevieve, Mo.; a brother-in-law: David (Peggy) Hollabaugh; grandchildren: Alexander (Allison) Herzog, Maria Herzog, Samantha Schnabel, Courtney (Adam) Ruessler, Matthew (Hannah) Drury, Trevor Drury; and great-grandchildren, Bryce and Brody, and Addison and Cameron.

 

She was also preceded in death by a sister: Elaine Hollabaugh.

 

Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Monday, June 12, 2023 and 8:30-9:45 a.m. Tuesday, June 13, 2023 at the Basler Funeral Home in Sainte Genevieve, Mo.

 

A funeral for 77-year-old Rita M Brumfield of Sainte Genevieve will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, June 13, 2023 at the Church of Ste. Genevieve. The Rev. Edward Nemeth will officiate.

 

Burial will be at the Valle Spring Cemetery in Sainte Genevieve, Mo.

 

Memorials may be made to the Sainte Genevieve County Memorial Hospital Auxiliary.

 

Rita was a nurse for 54 years and retired from Sainte Genevieve County Memorial Hospital in 2021.

 

In 2015, she received the Nurse Leader Legacy Award from the Missouri Organization of Nurse Leaders.

 

She was an avid Cardinals baseball fan and enjoyed going to the Spring Training for several years.

 

Rita loved going to the casinos and scratch off tickets.

 

She enjoyed traveling, spending time outside, particularly in her flower beds and on her family’s farm.
