Washington State Park hosts Pets in Parks event June 10

JEFFERSON CITY – Washington State Park is proud to host a Pets in Parks event Saturday, June 10, where guests can bring their furry friends for a bundle of pet-related activities.

 

Morning Dog Hike: 10 a.m. at Thunderbird Lodge
Bring your friendly four-footed companions for a stroll along the bottom of 1,000 Steps Trail. Visitors should keep your dogs on leashes and please make sure to pick up after it. Doggy bags will be provided.

Petroglyph Tour: 2 p.m. at Petroglyph Site
Park team members will offer a tour of the petroglyphs, the park’s history carved in stone. Learn about the Mississippian-era carvings, the culture and community who created them, as well as possible interpretations. Enjoy a short walk on a covered walkway with interpretive panels highlighting the cultural features.

Dog Show: 6 p.m. at Campground Amphitheater
Join us for a fun and inclusive dog show competition with multiple categories to win, such as best fur, largest, smallest, best costume and more.

Guests are required to abide by the park leash law and keep all dogs on a leash at all times. Only bring dogs that are comfortable and friendly around new people and animals, and be prepared to clean up after your dog as necessary. Complimentary doggie bags will be provided.
