A funeral will be held Saturday, May 6, 2023 for 84-year-old Mary Regina “Jean” Kertz of Bloomsdale, Mo. who passed away Sunday, April 30, 2023 at the Ste. Genevieve Care Center in Sainte Genevieve, Mo.
She was born March 9, 1939 in Perryille, Mo., the daughter of Theodore Schnurbusch and Regina (Wibbenmeyer) Schnurbusch who both preceded her in death.
She married John Kertz on June 27, 1959. He preceded her in death.
She is survived by two sons: Thomas “Tom” (Elizabeth “Liz”) Kertz of Sainte Genevieve, Mo., and Scott (Jennifer) Kertz of Sainte Genevieve, Mo.; a daughter: Susan “Sue” (Lance) Layman of Cincinnati, Ohio; a sister: Bernice French of Perryville, Mo.; 15 grandchildren: Allison, Bryan, Baxter, Trey, Tyson, Cassidy, Renee, Kimberley, Zachary, Rebekah, Mary Beth, Mackenzie, Logan, Hannah and Mason; and 15 great grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by a son: Bradley Kertz; two brothers: Jerome Schnurbusch and Leroy Schnurbusch and a grandson: Brayden Kertz.
Visitation will be 9-11 a.m. Saturday at the Basler Funeral Home in Sainte Genevieve, Mo.
A funeral for 84-year-old Mary Regina “Jean” Kertz of Bloomsdale will be held at 11:30 a.m. Saturday, May 6, 2023 at the St. Agnes Church in Bloomsdale. The Rev. Michael Benz and Deacon Jim Basler will officiate.
Burial will be at St. Agnes Cemetery in Bloomsdale, Mo.
Memorials may be made to Valle Schools or to the Ste. Genevieve Care Center.
She was a member of RCIA at St. Agnes, active with Girl Scouts and she worked as a lab tech at Ste. Genevieve County Memorial Hospital for over 30 years.
