Ste. Genevieve golf team comes in ninth in the Jackson Invitational

By SGHS Head Golf Coach Ryan Mueller

On Monday April 17, 2023, Ste. Genevieve played at Kimbeland Country Club. The team ended up taking ninth out of 15 teams.

Our lowest score of the day was Gavin Huck with a score of 80 which earned him a medal placing 8th place out of 78 golfers.

Gavin had shot a 39 on the front nine whil shoot a 41 on the back nine. Gavin had a great mental mindset throughout the entire tournament. Gavin’s best shot of the day that I was able to witness was when he played a great tee shot into the bottom of the fairway on a tough dog leg left par five. He was able to get a par on the hole as well. He was also able to snag a birdie on hole 1 to start his front nine.

Next was Aiden Boyer. Aiden was also in the 80s with an 88. Aiden played a consistent round shooting 44 on both 9s. Aiden was able to par one of the par threes today, but his short game wasn’t up to his liking today. From longer ranges, Aiden was striking the ball quite well which helped him stay in the 80s as well.

Next was Jayden Rhinehart with a 95. Jayden’s best club today was his driver. Jayden was able to play great tee shots to put him in great positions. Jayden struggled a little bit around the greens, but he was able to recover with some excellent putts that ended up saving many strokes throughout his round. Jayden was able to keep a great middle mindset throughout the day.

Next was Carter Burr with a 103. Carter wanted to be in the double digits today, and he was extremely close in meeting that goal. Carter has been improving significantly on his short game, and he continues to grow in that area. Carter played with great mental attitude and was able to play extremely smart golf. He knew not to take the drive on certain holes and used his five iron instead. His five iron put him in excellent positions.

Next was Braden Huck with a 113. Braden has several good holes today, including a birdie on hole 8 which us a par three. Braden was also able to bogey a few holes and get a par on the day. Braden also play smart golf getting great shots off of the tea. Braden had to play some difficult shots, but he was able to play them correctly to help his overall score.
