A funeral will be held Monday, April 24, 2023 for 76-year-old Paul E. Young of Evansville, Illinois, who passed away at 5:35 pm, Wednesday, April 19, 2023 at Randolph County Care Center, Sparta, Illinois.
He was born to the late Al Michael and Mildred Rose (nee Ehlers) Young on July 17, 1946 in Red Bud, Illinois.
He married Linda B. Schulein on May 6, 1978 at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Evansville, Illinois; she preceded him in death on July 8, 2021.
He is survived by two sons: Michael Young of Ste. Genevieve, MO and Robert Young of Evansville, IL
three siblings: Mary Jenkins Red Bud, IL, Carol Schaefer Red Bud, IL and David (Bridgie) Young of Red Bud, IL; two granddaughters: Madiline Young and Sabrina Statler and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
He was also preceded in death by a sister: Frances (Don) Tibbs and a brother-in-law: Clem Schaefer.
Paul attended Sparta High School.
After working several years for A& P Warehouse in Sauget, Illinois, he worked for Chester Mental Health in Chester, Illinois until his retirement in 2002.
Paul was member of St. Boniface Catholic Church in Evansville, Illinois.
He enjoyed wood working in his spare time, and built his projects to last.
He was active in his parish and the Knights of Columbus Council No. 1952 in Evansville, Illinois, and was named Knight of the Year in 2007.
He donated generously with his time and treasure.
Visitation will be 9-11 a.m. Monday at St. Boniface Catholic Church, Evansville, Illinois.

Interment will be in the St. Boniface Catholic Cemetery, Evansville, Illinois.
