SGHS travels to the Windsor JV Tournament

By Ryan Mueller, head coach

STE. GENEVIEVE – The Ste. Genevieve JV went and played a scramble tournament at Windsor Monday. We scored 7th out of 12 total teams.

We had two scramble teams: Landen Thompson/Madden Wolk and Connor Grass/Aiden Roth.

Landen and Madden ended up shooting at 89. Landend and Madden made the goal for themselves to break into the 80s on their scramble today, and they did just that.

Madden’s iron game was by far his biggest strength today. Madden had great tee shots when using his irons while also having great fairway shots with his irons.

Madden also did great with discussing strategies with Landen to help with different angles and lies they had to deal with. Landen and Madden finished their first 9 with a 47, but they recovered quickly and shot a 42 on the next 9 holes.

Landen and Madden started their first two holes of the back nine with a par and a birdie. They were in great shape mentally.

Landen’s strength was overall his driver. It only came around for him on the back 9, but when Madden and Landon needed it to come through, it did big time. I would also say that Landen’s other strength of the day was his putting game. Landon drained a 20 foot putt to save birdie for him and Madden.

The next group was Connor Grass and Aiden Roth. Connor and Aiden shot just one stroke higher than Landen and Madden. They ended up shooting a 90. The shot a 44 on the front, and a 46 on the back.

Aiden’s strength today was his driving game. He was able to utilize the driver and his mid iron shots to put them in great position to do well on everyhole. Connor excelled today in the chipping and short game to help supplement Aiden with his strength being the driver. Connor helped out his team by placing his chips and pitches extremely close to the hole to help them capitalize for pars throughout the day.
