Mark Edward Beard 70 years old of Sainte Genevieve, Mo., died Friday, March 24, 2023
at his home in Sainte Genevieve, Mo.
He was born November 21, 1952 in Park Hills, Mo.
Married to Brenda (Gore) Beard on September 9, 1977.
He is survived by: wife: Brenda Beard of Sainte Genevieve, MO; two daughters: Rebecca Dawn (Shawn) Long and Mallory Gail (Tim) Pietsek both of Sainte Genevieve, Mo; sister-in-law: Lois Beard; two sisters: Pat (Bill) Leftridge and Connie (Keith) Green; two brothers: Steven Otis (Sheila) Beard and Jimmy (Jeannie) Beard; three grandchildren who were the light of his life: Grant, Henry, and Ruby Long; numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his mother: Margaret Ruth Beard; father: Otis Marion Beard; brother: Mike Beard; and his beloved beagle: Maggie
Visitation will be at Basler Funeral Home in Sainte Genevieve on Thursday, March 30, 2023 from 3 until 7 p.m.
Service will be at Basler Funeral Home on Thursday, March 30, 2023 at 5 p.m.
There will be a private burial at a later date.

Mark was a veteran of the US Navy, and a graduate of North County High School who occasionally made his daughters sit on the away side of SGHS football games (Go Raiders!).
Mark loved nothing more than fishing, going on vacation anywhere he could play putt putt golf, taking “walkabouts”, New Orleans Saints football, religiously watching Survivor, and playing with his grandkids.
He was a beloved husband, dad, PaPa, uncle, and friend. Mark was the quintessential “girl dad,” – and was known to play Barbies, make play dough babies wrapped in play dough blankets, coach girls softball (even wearing the team’s iconic pink t-shirts), and buy feminine products in bulk so he never had to go back for more.
In his heyday, he was a champion at horseshoes, shot a mean game of pool, and enjoyed deer hunting with the best of them (although he secretly made his wife field dress the deer). He once had his youngest daughter’s hair cut by the barber while his wife and oldest were away so he didn’t have to comb it, and he was known to narrowly escape death during sledding season with his daredevil moves.
Mark had worked at Piramal Glass in Park Hills and was a member of Steel Worker’s Union for over 30 years. He had been spending his retirement spoiling his grandchildren rotten. He will be missed for his wicked sense of humor, sheer orneriness, and the BIG way he loved us all.
