January Mobile Market braces cold, wind to feed families

CHESTER – It was a very cold, damp, and windy day Wednesday January 25 but approximately 20 loyal volunteers showed up to serve clients at the monthly Mobile Market hosted by the Chester Area Christian Food Pantry (CACFP).

The event was held at the Chester Cohen Recreation Complex north of Chester.  Shown here are the volunteers sorting and bagging a variety of food items provided by the St. Louis Area Food Bank. Jim Beers Photo

The event was a success in spite of the frigid temperatures and harsh environment.

During the month of December, the CACFP served 209 households with 499 individuals. Food items needed to help stock the pantry include canned meats, pasta, fruit and tuna fish.

The monthly Mobile Market takes place at the Recreation Complex at approximately 8:30 am. the 4th Wednesday of each month.
