Bruce R. Cavanaugh, 79, of Ste Genevieve, Missouri fortified with the sacraments of the Holy Mother Church, passed away on February 24, 2023 at the Missouri Veterans Home, Cape Girardeau, MO surrounded by his loving family.
He was born August 21, 1943 in Detroit, MI to Harry Michael and Christine (Kasarnich) Cavanaugh.
Bruce and Dawn Ellen Sayre were married November 21, 1969 in Michigan. She preceeded him on January 15, 2022.
Bruce served in the United States Coast Guard during the Vietnam Era.
Bruce was awarded with Salesman of the Year for 2 consecutive years at ALSCO Anaconda Aluminum Siding Manufacturing Co. in Akron, OH. He went on to start his own company Midway Building Products in Grand Rapids, MI. Lastly he was a building contractor of high end residential homes in Savannah, GA.
Bruce was an avid golfer with many accolades, he was a licensed pilot. During his final years he enjoyed walking his dog and visiting with neighbors in the St. Jude Neighborhood in Ste Genevieve, MO.
Survivors include two sons, Brett (Ali) Cavanaugh of Ste Genevieve, MO, Greg Cavanaugh of Ste Genevieve, MO; sister, Diane Wiley of San Diego, CA; four grandchildren, Niamh (Brad) Johnson, Finn Cavanaugh, Malachy Cavanaugh, Saoirse Cavanaugh; two great-granddaughters, Fiona & Juliette Johnson; one sister-in-law Charlene Cavanaugh and her children Darren Cavanaugh, Brian (Delsie) Cavanaugh, and Steven Cavanaugh.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; brother, Robert Cavanaugh.
Visitation will be at 9:30 am to 11:00 am on Saturday, March 4, 2023 at Catholic Church of Ste. Genevieve in Ste. Genevieve, MO.
Funeral Mass will follow at 11:00 am Saturday, March 4, 2023 with the Rev. Edward Nemeth officiating.
Burial will be at Valle Springs Cemetery in Saint Genevieve, MO.
Memorial contributions may be given to St. Vincent de Paul Society of Ste Genevieve, MO.
