Telephone threat closes Perry County Schools for the second time this week

PERRYVILLE — The Perryville Police Department, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives and the Federal Bureau of Investigation are investigating another threat to the Perry County School District.

Schools were closed this morning until further notice after receiving another threat.

In a press release from the district’s Communications director, Kate Martin, it is believed the call came from the same unknown caller who threatened the district earlier this week.

The Perryville Police Department is requesting assistance from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives and the Federal Bureau of Investigation to identify the caller.

Martin adds that the district is providing every assistance to investigators. The person or persons responsible for “terrorizing our campus will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.”

The entire campus is closed until further notice: No students, staff, or visitors should be on school grounds or in the school buildings.
