Shape the future of the CDBG Program!

JEFFERSON CITY – The Missouri Department of Economic Development (DED) will hold public meetings in the coming weeks in preparation of writing the five-year Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Program Consolidated Plan.

The Consolidated Plan is an overall planning document that outlines goals and objectives of how community needs will be addressed by state or local governments with CDBG funds over the next five years.

Five public engagement sessions for the 2023 Consolidated Plan will be held in four locations across the state of Missouri:

  • September 27, 2022, 1 – 2:30 p.m. – Missouri Job Center, Dogwood Room, 2900 E. Sunshine, Springfield, MO 65804

  • October 12, 2022, 6 – 7:30 p.m. – Virtual, registration required

The Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) distributes funding to DED, which is used to help Missouri communities prosper. As a requirement for CDBG funds, a consolidated plan must be written by the state and approved by HUD every five years before funds will be released. This plan outlines which programs will be funded and is meant to serve as the framework for dialogue throughout the communities to address housing and community development priorities.

The 2023-2027 Consolidated Plan is due March 31, 2023. These public engagement sessions will be used to educate cities and counties on the full spectrum of possibilities of uses for CDBG funds in communities. This will be an opportunity for DED to hear the needs of cities and counties and allow DED to shape the CDBG program to address those needs.
