CHESTER – Mark H.X. Glenshaw, an award-winning naturalist, will be presenting at the Chester Public Library on Thursday, September 29 at 6:30pm about his work studying wild Great Horned Owls in Forest Park; a large urban park in St. Louis. The presentation is free, all-ages and open to all.
Mark has closely observed and documented these owls since December 2005. The owls and his work with them has received regular coverage from local and regional media spanning the spectrum of TV, radio, print and web. Mark does extensive outreach work with the owls. He leads dozens of owl prowls in Forest Park each year. He also gives scores of talks each year across Missouri, Illinois and beyond to a wide range of organizations and institutions. He was awarded the Citizen Scientist Award by the Academy of Science-St. Louis in 2006. Mark is a Certified Interpretive Guide, a certified Missouri Master Naturalist and a volunteer for Forest Park Forever.
This owl is a male, Mark has named ‘Charles’.
Mark’s talk, “Forest Park Owls: Hiding In Plain Sight”, will cover how he found these owls and basic facts about the species. He will share many of his photos and videos to illustrate the amazing behaviors of these beautiful owls.

Mark is especially excited about this presentation as it is his first in Chester.
He has enjoyed stopping by and driving through Chester when has given presentations in Carbondale, Marion, Harrisburg and elsewhere so he is very grateful for this opportunity to share the owls and his work with them in Chester.
