Two adults, five children from Marshall, Mo., hurt in I-55 crash

JEFFERSON CITY — Seven persons: two adults and five children, all from Marshall, Mo., were hurt in a traffic crash on I-55 in Ste. Genevieve County Saturday afternoon.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol reports 22-year-old Ana Castellano had moderate injuries and 23-year-old Marlon J. Nolasco had minor injuries. A female infant had moderate injuries, and the remaining children — a one-year-old female and three males, aged three, four and 15 — each had minor injuries.

All of the injured were taken to Perry County Memorial Hospital by Ste. Genevieve County EMS and Perry County Ambulance.

The patrol says the two adults and all of the children were using appropriate restraints.

The patrol says the crash happened when a southbound 2006 Honda Pilot driven by Nolasco traveled off the left side of the roadway and struck the median cable barrier. The driver over-corrected and the car ran off the right side of the roadway, began sliding, struck a MoDOT highway sign, traveled down an embankment and overturned onto its left side.

Nolasco was cited by the highway patrol for driving without a license and careless and imprudent driving involving a traffic crash. He was released.

The crash happened about 4 p.m. north of Route Z.

The patrol says the Perryville Police Department assisted at the scene.
